Fence Installation & Repair in Fuquay-Varina, NC

Fuquay-Varina has always been two towns in one. Fuquay Springs and Varina joined up in 1963, and you can still feel both today. Old downtown blocks, new subdivisions off US 401, open land in between. We fence all of it from our shop in Garner.

Where the Piedmont Meets the Coastal Plain

Fuquay-Varina sits on the Fall Line, where Piedmont red clay meets the sandier Coastal Plain. To a fence crew, that's the difference between a post hole that holds and one that caves in.

Clay ground. It drains slow, so we dig full depth and set posts in concrete that water can't work loose.

Sandy ground. It digs easy but shifts. We size the footing to the ground we find.

Fuquay-Varina's Fence Rules, in Plain English

Inside town limits, Fuquay-Varina doesn't require a fence permit. That surprises folks moving down from Raleigh. The rules still apply, though. Here's what the Town's ordinance says:

Front yards

4 feet max, and no solid fences. Picket works. Privacy panels don't.

Side and rear yards

6 feet max in town. The ETJ has no cap.

Leave a gap

Most fences need 2 inches of ground clearance for runoff.

Stay out of easements

No fences in a dedicated easement. In the ETJ, the good side faces out.

Retaining walls may need a building permit. We check before we quote one.

No Permit Doesn't Mean No Rules

We check your plat, your easements and your HOA's guidelines before anything gets ordered.

Fencing Across Fuquay-Varina

A fence that suits a downtown street can look wrong on five acres off NC 42.

Downtown and the historic districts

Near Main Street and the Fuquay Mineral Spring, lots are small and homes are older. A painted picket fits better than a tall privacy wall.

Sunset Lake and the Holly Springs line

Lake lots mean slopes and views you don't want to block. Aluminum keeps the view open.

Newer subdivisions off US 401

South Lakes, High Grove and Sunset Bluffs have HOA rules. We read them first, then build to them.

Farmland and acreage

Out in the ETJ, split rail and wood board fencing make sense for pastures and long lines.

Residential & Commercial Fencing in Fuquay-Varina

We use treated lumber on every wood fence. Pool owners get aluminum built to pool barrier code. Businesses on the NC 55 Bypass get chain-link, gates and dumpster enclosures.
